THE MUSIC:
Stokeswood is headlining Strange Daze this year and Digitalgig says "Atlanta’s Stokeswood have all the attributes to be a massive international success. They combine excellent vocals with incredibly proficient yet understated instrumental performances perfectly." Southeast Performer agrees that Stokeswood has got something special going on and writes, "...the tracks are substantially driven by singer/writer/guitarist Adam Patterson, yet wonderfully complimented by the musicianship that surrounds him. It's like a rock-n-roll ballet with sweeps of solo guitar, spins of bongos, and no one ever running into each other or missing a step." The band has also recently been featured on 11alive News for their performance at Centennial Olympic Park on July 4th with Vertical Horizon! They are just amazing!
Wake of the Titan is the featured local artist this week on Project 96.1's Project Homegrown, and they will also be featured at Strange Daze! The band is headlining at Sweetwater this weekend, if you're interested in checking them out! Project961.com.
Music Reviewer.com decided that they "cannot find anything to complain about in this unique, powerful sound [Wake of the Titan] have uncovered," and Hybridmagazine.com exclaimed, "When I started researching Wake Of The Titan, I automatically assumed I'd find a major label of some sort listed on their MySpace. Or if nothing else, a substantial indie. But…nothing. That just shocks me that a band with this talent hasn't been picked up."
Flagpole Magazine (Athens,GA) love The K-Macks, another band playing Strange Daze! In a review of their first album, Flagpole declared that "The K-Macks are capable of writing some really powerful folk songs. Stand out tracks like "Sin Boldly" and "Rearranging" lure the listener in with their candid wisdom; and I found myself clinging to every word from beginning to end."
Buffalo Alice, another of the 12 disciples of music playing Strange Daze, produced his albums with Jason Cropper, ex-member of Weezer, and has played around the country with groups such as Boy Hits Car, The Edison Project, Harry and the Potters, and Corey Crowder.
Strange Daze would never shy away from controversy, which is why Before the Solstice is such an integral part of the spirit of this fest! With lyrics like "Hate your God, cause God hates you!" and "Let's smoke a joint and say just F*ck it all!," there have been many times their shows have been stopped midway and many venues that have asked them not to come back! However, Playground Magazine (Columbus, GA), in support of free expression and musical integrity commented on Before the Sosltice, "Their style is hard to define straightforwardly, since each song carries its own essence. But, the overall feel of Before the Solstice can be summed up as melodic progressive rock with the ability to entrance, make you dance, or punch a hole in the wall! They call it Quantum Rock."
Michael Shivers, another Strange Daze artist, recently won a headlining gig at Eddie's Attic, by taking the first place position on a MySpace poll put on by Eddie's Attic in search of the most desired local artist!
And Strange Daze even has some great punk acts, such as Unseen Stimuli, that Target Audience Magazine claimed "...packs the kind of energy in motion to make music any 16-year-old girl, wet with excitement, shake her politics to."

The festival is meant to bring together some of the most intense creative minds that I've been lucky enough to find, for one day of commune with like-minded spirits. It's meant to help these artists get exposure as an entity of originality and substance. Strange Daze is not about rules, but convictions, not about conformity, but modification, not about what dazzles, but what inspires.
